About Us

Who Are We?

The Youth Activist Press (YAP) was founded in June 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic, civil unrest, and sociopolitical uprising in our communities closing of iCAMP. We were conceptualized through finding ways for young people who would have attended the iCAMP program to still have a space for their digital media projects. The goal is to build an outlet for youth to continue using their voices and become affirmed in their beliefs, feelings, and perspectives. YAP is a Philadelphia-based project led by two 20-something Black women.

Our work is made possible by a grant from The Independence Public Media Foundation. They support creative, community-centered media and media making across Greater Philadelphia.
